As I was shopping on my newest obsession…an FSA online shop (If you have an FSA account definitely check it out HERE. It’s like the Amazon.com of FSA approved items. You’ll be surprised at what you can buy with your FSA dollars. This website came in handy last month as my FSA deadline approached.) I wanted to spend up my remaining dollars so I didn’t lose them. What did I find? A Neti Pot!
What’s a Neti Pot? A nasal irrigation system that washes away excess mucus and irritants such as pollen, dust particles, pollutants, and bacteria…all while reducing inflammation of the mucus membrane. A natural way to relieve sinus and cold and allergy symptoms.
What do you use it for? Nasal allergies, dryness or hay fever. Post nasal drip & nasal congestion. Sinus pressure & nasal stuffiness. Nasal symptoms from cold and flu. Nasal irritation from occupational & house dust, fumes, animal dander, grass, pollen, smoke, etc.
Easy to use? Pretty much! I boiled my water and let it cool before mixing with the prepackaged solution in the Neti Pot. This is important!! Do not use tap water without boiling. I think I might need some practice actually performing the act of flushing out my sinuses though. I really wish I would have filmed it. It was hilarious.
How do I feel after? I didn’t really have any strong sinus, cold, or allergen symptoms before using. I have had an annoying pop in my ears for the past month or so though. Directly after using my first thought was that I could hear so much better. I also feel like I can breathe a little easier…not knowing I was actually having any difficulty before.
Neti Pot or Neti Not? I say Neti Pot! Go for it! I really like this natural way to irrigate my sinuses. It made me feel more clear even though I didn’t have any real noticeable problems before. I think it’s something I will continue to practice to keep myself clear of allergens.
This is the Neti Pot I picked up. It’s a nice porcelain pot with 20 premixed packets. Definitely something nice to have on the shelf incase some flu or cold symptoms come up or I decide I need to clear my head.
