I had the best time driving the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE. I definitely had dreams about them saying “you know what, you just go ahead and keep it!”
-keep dreamin’ sista’-
The 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE was incredible on gas millage….51/53 MPG…we were getting up there close to 60! We took the opportunity to take the car all around the city to explore and have the best fall fun! Fall in Cincinnati is absolutely stunning. The trees right now are gorgeous. It was just the most perfect time.
So, what were some of my favorite things?
Color-keyed heated outside mirrors with turn signal and blind spot warning indicator – this was great! I absolutely loved the blind spot warning indicator! It made me feel so safe switching lanes.
The leather heated seats – might have been my favorite! I’m sitting on the heater in my living room as I write this. I absolutely love the heat, give me all the warmth!
Three USB Ports (1.5V and 2.1V) – these were great! With using our phones for photos and social media all day, having these strong chargers kept us fully charged!
Multi-Information Display – My dad busted my bubble on this one. I thought this was a screen inside the windshield, turns out it’s a reflective display. Either way, it’s incredible and I felt like I was driving a space ship!
Toyota Safety SenseTM P (TSS-P) – Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control – all of this car talk means I felt 100% safe in this car! I wasn’t going to veer into another lane without warning, no one could walk by the car without me knowing. I felt confident that my family was safe driving around in this car-this car has our best interest!
If the system determines that a frontal collision is likely, it prompts you to take action using audio and visual alerts. If you notice the potential collision and apply the brakes, PCS w/PD may apply additional force using Brake Assist (BA). 30 If you don’t brake in time, it may automatically apply the brakes to reduce your speed, helping to minimize the likelihood of a frontal collision or reduce its severity.
Under certain circumstances, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) 34 is designed to detect lane departure on roads with visible lane markings. LDA is designed to activate when you’re traveling at a speed of 32 mph or higher. When you hear and see the alert, after carefully checking the road around you, you should safely direct your vehicle back to the center of your lane.
Automatic High Beams (AHB) 43 are a safety system designed to help you see more clearly at night—without distracting other drivers. Designed to activate at speeds above 25 mph, AHB rely on an in-vehicle camera to help detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles, then automatically toggle between high and low beams accordingly. By using high beams more frequently, the system may allow earlier detection of pedestrians and obstacles.
Intended for highway use and similar to “constant speed” cruise control, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) 32 lets you drive at a preset speed. DRCC uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control, which adjusts your speed, to help you maintain a preset distance from vehicles ahead of you that are driving at a slower speed. DRCC uses a front-grille-mounted radar and an in-vehicle camera designed to detect vehicles and their distance. If a driver is traveling slower than you, or within your preset range, DRCC will automatically slow your vehicle down without deactivating cruise control. If DRCC determines you need to slow down more, an audio and visual alert notifies you and brakes are applied. When there’s no longer a vehicle driving slower than your preset speed in front of you, DRCC will then accelerate to your preset speed.
Overall I know my next vehicle WILL be a hybrid for sure, nerding out over the gas millage and battery was too much fun!
A huge thank you to Toyota for partnering with me on this blog post. This was a dream come true.
