I recently made apple sauce in my instant pot & wow – It’s so easy AND delicious! Honestly I had no idea I could make instant pot apple sauce at home that tastes better than anything I could buy in store. The key to a yummy apple sauce? Good apples – duh! Autumn Glory Apples are perfect as they are very sweet and crisp. With notes of caramel and cinnamon, you honestly don’t need much more than the apples to make delicious apple sauce.
I whipped up what I called my base apple sauce, and then created additional flavors from there. I have a 7 month old, 7 year old, and 10 year old. They all absolutely love apple sauce and loved these apple sauce recipes! I feel good knowing there’s no added sugar or unnecessary ingredients! See the apple sauce recipe below and then the additional flavors I created.
The day I made my base apple sauce I created these additional recipes for the kids. The possibilities are honestly endless! These apples go so great with many different combinations. I used frozen fruits and veggies to create these recipes, but fresh would be great also. I used my food processor to blend the apples from the instant pot and went from there. I steamed my frozen fruit and veggies on the stove and then added them to the food processor with the apples. I would clean out the food processor between each flavor. I used mini mason jars and these silicone food grade ice cube trays to easily store and freeze.
- cinnamon – flavor with cinnamon and nutmeg – tastes like pie – a favorite of the older boys
- peach – when adding frozen peaches watch the ingredients and avoid added sugar
- blueberry – a tart, sweet combination
- sweet pea – my 7 month old LOOOOVES this one
- original – or the base recipe
