Hello summer! We had a blast during our recent trip to Indy! We kicked off summer with a special little day trip. We recently spent 24 hours in Indy & it was perfect – exactly what the doctor ordered! My husband recently had back surgery and it has been a wild 6 weeks of recovery – for him and truly the entire family! The boys have been such an amazing help & such great sports while we spent a lot of time doing a whole lot of nothing. As Derrek was cleared to spend some extra time in the car – we decided a road trip would do everyone good!
Indy is about 2 hours from us here in Cincy – perfect drive for a day trip to visit the museum! Did you know The Children’s Museum Indianapolis is the largest Children’s Museum in the world? If you haven’t been yet – totally check it off of your bucket list this summer! It has so much to do and see! We were invited to come visit & get an early look at their brand new Scooby Doo exhibit! It was seriously such a blast. Keep reading to learn more!
WHERE TO STAY
Iron works hotel indy
We decided to make this trip an overnight stay and visit one of our ABSOLUTE FAVORITE hotels of all time!
Iron Works Hotel Indy is an absolute dream. It’s such a vibe! We visited for the first time back in 2018. The boys still talk about this hotel! They were sooo excited to hear we were making a return!

Iron Works is an industrial building inspired by 19th century architecture. Every detail of the hotel lobby is perfected and so simple at the same time. The first floor has a new photo booth that we really loved! It was like a typical movie theater or mall photo booth but the inside totally reminds me of the 19th century vibes of the hotel! Such a fun touch!
Can I also add? It smells like heaven in this hotel! They even sell the room spray and I am kicking myself for not grabbing some for the house – just a more reason to come back!
We checked into our hotel room and instantly felt like home! It was fun to see the boys so excited to be back. We love how large the rooms are at Iron Works! This room had a beautiful couch and table + chairs in the corner. We sat at the table and played Taco vs Burrito. It was so much fun!
The room is so nice you really just don’t want to leave! We had a couple hours before heading to the museum so I jumped into my Iron Works robe before getting ready & put it back on as soon as we got back!
The bathroom is also incredible! The shower is large and clean with a rainfall shower head. It was so relaxing to wake up in the morning and grab a long shower before anyone woke up!

This spacious restaurant offers a plethora of dinner options for our guests. In addition, Provision’s community dining counter offers patrons the opportunity to dine directly in front of the kitchen and be personally served by the head chef.
Provision also features a large deck – allowing guests to dine outside while enjoying a glass of wine or craft beer.
Blue Sushi Saki Grill
Located on the first level of the Ironworks Hotel building, Blue Sushi Sake Grill combines creative, fresh ingredients with energetic vibes, premium sake and happy moments to put a fresh and fun spin on the traditional sushi experience.
RIZE
Also located on the first level of the Ironworks Hotel building, Rize features light, organic fare. This smaller, boutique style restaurant is located close to the hotel lobby and serves hotel guests with a variety of healthy breakfast and lunch options. Rize’s menu also provides an assortment of catering options – perfect for your next business meeting or event.
