I have been patiently waiting through pregnancy and almost 2 years of breastfeeding to return to Botox. I received my first treatment in 2019. I truly love what Botox did for my skin, and was very excited to get Botox again! I know Botox is such a personal decision and may not be for everyone. If you are interested in Botox treatments, and want to learn more, continue reading for some great answers to some of the most popular Botox related questions. This blog post is sponsored by The Christ Hospital, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Before we dive in, I of course want to remind you to 100% consult with a licensed medical professional before any cosmetic procedures you may be considering. When you visit The Christ Hospital Medical Spa, your experience begins with a free consultation with Nurse Practitioner, Liney!
“Receiving aesthetic treatments can be part of a self-care journey. Not only can they be preventative and corrective, but can help boost your confidence”. – Nurse Practitioner, Liney Cintrón, FNP-C.
Are Results Instant? How Long Does It Take To Kick In?
Botox is a neurotoxin most commonly used to treat fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead, frown lines, and crows feet. It can take Botox anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks to show results.
How Long Does Botox Last?
They usually suggest results will last around 4 months. I get Botox administered on my forehead, crow’s feet, and the little 11 between my eyes. Personally, I have seen results last around 6-9 months! A good rule of thumb though is to visit your provider once a season!
Where Should I Go To Get Botox?
Botox treatments can be offered at skin clinics, dermatologist offices, and other medical facilities. The most important thing to remember is that only RNs, NPs, PAs, or MDs can inject Botox into clients. All injectors must be licensed medical professionals!
Here in Cincinnati, I visited The Christ Hospital Medical Spa in Liberty Township. It was such a great experience! The offices are so clean and the medical team is so friendly and knowledgeable.
Does Botox Hurt?
It is a needle going into your skin, so there is a pain factor. For me, it’s very minimal and almost just a pinch. The entire process goes very smooth and quickly.
What Are The Botox Side Effects?
I did have little red bumps or dried blood on the injection locations. They were visible for maybe 24 hours, if that! Sometimes people can experience light bruising. Other than that, I personally have had no adverse side effects. If you do have any sudden pain, itching, change in skin color, etc. you should contact your doctor immediately.
What All Did You Have Done?
I had an incredible facial with a peel and dermaplaning treatment. Dermaplaining exfoliates and rids the face of fine hair for a fresher, cleaner and brighter glow while also allowing skincare products to be more effective and makeup to appear smoother and more flawless.
With Botox I had:
24 units to forehead “frontalis”
20 units to the area between my eyebrows “glabella”
24 units to the crows feet
I also did 8 units of Botox in my lip for a “lip flip” (2 units on 4 injection points)
The Christ Hospital Med Spa also offers a full line of ZO skin care products! Liney is really knowledgeable and happy to walk through products and her recommendations. I went home with a ZO Skin Health Starter Kit. This came with gel cleanser, exfoliating polish, and renewal pads. I think keeping up with this new skincare regime has extended my post facial glow!
What Is A “Lip Flip”?
The “Botox lip flip” is a procedure done with Botox injections to make your lips appear larger. To do this, your dermatologist or plastic surgeon will inject multiple units of Botox into the upper middle part of your upper lip. When the muscles relax, your lip will curl upward. Fair warning, the lip flip hurt worse than regular Botox, my eyes watered!
A lip flip is a great alternative to filler! It’s temporary and only takes about 2-4 units! Here is a side view of my after. I love the results. I noticed a fuller upper lip, and just like the procedure it described, it curls upward.
I am truly loving the results from my Botox and facial. My skin is absolutely glowing! Before my skin was looking so dull and I was very insecure about my large pores. It is like night and day.
A few days after my facial I attended an event where I updated my headshots. I can’t count how many compliments I received about my glowing skin! All thanks to The Christ Hospital Medical Spa!
